Waiting in the departure lounge Edna thought about how she had not seen her grandsons Eric and Donny in more than three years.
She and her husband had driven to Ottawa for years but ever since Eric senior got sick and passed she had not seen them. Edna did not drive and she just hated flying.
It wasn’t really the flying she hated but the washrooms on the airplanes. They’re so small, so tight. Not made for getting older.
Seven kids later, a few extra pounds, and with both knees painfully arthritic the attendant on her last flight had to help her get up off the seat after she rang the emergency assistance bell. That was three years ago. So embarrassing!
A sip of comforting warm organic tea with honey touched her smile. Phyllis, her best friend had given her a Uribag before she left and she thought about how much nicer travel is with one in her purse. She confidently had another sip.
Gosh those kids have grown.
